To Oscar:
A Collection of Aesthetic Melodies
CD & PDF Booklet CD

This CD is a collection of 18 songs, most of which were composed in 1882, the year Oscar Wilde went on his lecture tour of America in part to promote the Gilbert & Sullivan operetta Patience. Most of the songs are a testament to Oscar's influence on society of that time. I produced the CD because I wanted to hear what these songs sound like and I was unable to find an existing source for such a collection. I am offering copies of it to those interested as I hope others will be able to enjoy this effort as well. The songs that are included on the CD are, as far as I know, in public domain, and every effort has been made to reproduce them accurately as closely as possible. They are computer renditions of the original sheet music arrangements. The CD comes with a 40 page booklet in PDF format on a separate CD containing facsimiles of the sheet music art and also lyrics to the songs that included them as well as other miscellaneous art relating to Oscar Wilde. You will need a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is free, to view the accompanying booklet. Download a copy of Acrobat Reader at this link. If you have any questions please Email me.

Quote from Roy Waters, London:
"TO OSCAR is a CD of the music of 18 Songs,  Galops, Waltzes, Etc., mostly
composed during Oscar Wilde’s American Tour in 1882.  Playing them
electronically, Diane Irvin evokes the period harmonium, and presents a
lively performance of the extraordinary musical responses to Wilde’s American
tour.  The lyrics to the ten songs are printed in the accompanying booklet,
many of them astonishingly witty in view of the transience of the medium.
The bulky booklet also contains several reproductions of other music covers
relating to Wilde in the U.S.A.  In my view this is a collectors item."
